Jimmy started playing guitar at a very young age. In fact, his first guitar came to him one Christmas morning when he was around 7 years old. He was Immediately captivated by it and wanted to learn how to play. He tried taking lessons on and off several times but couldn't seem to stick with it, but eventually over the years he was able to teach himself. Not only did Jimmy teach himself to play guitar, in high school he was always in the choir and played trombone in the band.
Always willing to try something new, and out of necessity...he picked up the bass and learned to play the keyboards. One of his first keyboard challenges was on Foxfire's attempt at the song "Baby Come Back" by Player. Performing not only took over in a way which influenced him musically but excelled him vocally. Jimmy's strong and consistent tenor vocals (reminiscent of Tom Petty) clearly adds to the harmonies of Eddie and Steve.
For a brief period, Jimmy and Chuck played with a talented group of guys called "Pioneer". By the mid 1980's he co-founded, played guitar and sang lead and harmony vocals for the band Lost Children. Jimmy also sang and played bass for an annual charity event with the group Bandstand. Needless to say, Jimmy has always kept busy musically and is highly sought after.
Jimmy also has recorded at the Cleveland Institute of Music. In recent years Jimmy has found a gift in recording engineering. His keen ear and technical abilities allow him to combine all his musical talents. Over the years, he has been refining the recording and mixing process. He recently recorded, produced, and mixed a CD for a local musician.
Although Jimmy was technically the last to join they guys who would eventually become Foxfire, the band would not be a musical success if it were not for his musical talents, distinct vocals, writing and expressions.
Jimmy's early influences were Todd Rundgren and Steely Dan. He also enjoys the music of America, the Eagles, and the vocals of Crosby Stills and Nash. Jimmy is a natural in all he does and enjoys refurbishing old cars/trucks, tinkering with electronics and saying: "Well Mitch".
Besides getting together with the original members of Foxfire and enjoying the chance to write and play songs together once again. Jim is currently an engineer living about 20 minutes west of Cleveland, Ohio. Though the job pays the bills, he has always had the dream of playing music for a living. He enjoys his job working with robotics and lasers but will always be drawn towards music in some way.
